There is another post office counter in my own village, but this is within another shop and I refuse to use this facility as there is no privacy and they do not accept deliveries, take money etc. and do not provide a good service. I prefer to get in my car and drive to another South Cave to ue the pot office there. They are more caring and have more of a community spirit. I do not want to lose the dedicated Post Office. South Cave is particularly busy and should NOT go. We must NOT lose this Post Office.

I completely sympathise with South Cave Village Post Office. There is soon going to be a consultation to move an existing Post Office into a busy convenience store 500-600 yards away from my office. Dear Sir, I am writing to object to the potential closure and relocation of the South Cave Village Post Office in your constituency. The closure would not only mean the end of a vital community resource but would also serve to erode the very fabric our village community. The service offered in a 'convenience store' would be limited and would not provide the service currently provided by our village Post office. I regularly make full use this vital community facility, not only to deliver and collect parcels and post but to pay bills, to bank as well as to be informed of local activities taking place within the village itself. The village has an elderly population for whom the closure of this service would be truly detrimental. To take one instance, they would have to travel some 6-7 miles to Hessle to collect undelivered parcels. Irregular public transport through the village (should they not drive) would further exacerbate their inconvenience. Teenage petrol pump attendants and convenience store workers cannot possibly offer the range of skills, expertise and advice which we have hitherto taken for granted at professionally-run local post offices. We've seen how the quality of service has suffered in the NHS and the banks through similar initiatives to save money by downgrading service levels, and how badly it can backfire. In the case of the Post Office, frustrated customers will use other service-providers, turnover will decline and you'll have to do some more cost-cutting...
The mantra of "best value for the tax-payer" is sometimes used to justify initiatives like this. I would reply that I pay a huge amount of tax and I would rather see my money spent keeping a healthy Post Office running than spend it on fuel collecting my parcels from several miles away.

I work 5 days a week until 4pm, so parcels are left at the post office where they are easily collected from late afternoon. Having to travel miles to collect parcels will not be reasonable as those depots will ahve closed by the time I can get to them. I will have to stop having parcels delivered by Royal Mail. I don't know how I will manage as I no longer have family who are in all day to receive parcels for me.
The South Cave Post office is a social place where people of the village stop for a chat. People are the most important asset of a community, don't take everything away from us.

The government have obviously not thought this one through. Maybe they had nothing to do? Obviously shutting down the post offices is of no consequence to them. They don't realise that it will kill the whole community. People will not be able to meet and have a chat to their friends. Meeting their friends in passing in the street are limited. The elderly will find it difficult, having to travel outside of the village. Not everyone has the money to be constantly on buses to collect their mail. Some may not even have the time. People enjoy chatting to the postman/lady. Stopping this will ruin their day. What will the staff do, when they lose their jobs? Jobs aren't exactly easy to come by these days, as I'm sure the government well knows. If all of the government lost their jobs and found that all of the post offices in London and around their homes were to be shut down they would cause an uproar. Obviously it will never happen, but they may not be so selfish!!

The ladies at our post office do an incredible job and I am always greeted with a warm welcome and a smile when I go in. They will all do anything to help! Save our post office!!!

It would be excessively busy in the only major post offices left open and a great many people would loose their jobs in places like south cave post office. We do not wantwe or need to loose this excellent service it works well and serves the village well.

Local Residents are of all ages and have got used to being able to receive all the requirements on Foot and some are not quipped to travel to Hessle or York to collect undelivered post and parcels. The loss of full postal services will severely affect the Village
