As a person who has lived in the vicinity of Delaware Park for 15 years and has spent a great deal of time walking and running around the park, thinking to myself, what's stopping a car from coming off the road and hitting me? The answer. Nothing. What should've been done a long time ago was to have guardrails in place to prevent an incident like this from ever happening. However, lowering the speed limit on the 198 to an almost unusable speed, is absurd. So often change seems to occur when something tragic happens, instead of having the foresight to see that not having a guardrail in place is the real issue. So often politicians react heavy handed to appease the few and not the masses. The 198 whether you like it or not, is a major artery of this city. With that said, return the 198 speed limit to the way it was before.

I think 50mph is excessive being that people will always go faster than they should, and 60 is indeed dangerous. 40-45 is fair, safer, and in line with what the community is accustomed to.
