My husband was GM, and his priority during this time was only ever the future success of the Club in terms of competitive, and within the community. After a few months Adam found Bruce Arndell to be discussing player payments with other Clubs. My husband felt that this behaviour was highly inappropriate, so he raised his concerns initially with Bruce, and then with other Board members when Bruce failed to acknowledge Adam's position on the matter. Rather than the Board acknowledging Bruce's behaviour and protecting the integrity of the Club, the remaining Board members instead chose to support Bruce and try to manage Adam out of his job. They subsequently undertook lewd acts of dishonesty and bullying, which included them NOT paying Adam's owed salary and expenses, an illegal act in itself. I also remember Adam receiving abusive phone calls whilst we were in the emergency ward of the hospital with my 20 month old son Harley. Should you question the above written paragraphs, this is all documented in legal documents and emails, as we kept ALL of the correspondence.

Even though i had the opportunity to play at Mac Uni (the uni im going to) i still wanted to play for the club that my brother did. But after they cut the U 18's team and started shipping in the Sydney Swans geriatric society the club lost its culture. It use to be a great club were everyone was enjoying themselves but playing good footy at the same time, but with an importance on having a good time.

Now it's about as entertaining as Fosdikes hair line.

Balmain has suffered from poor management and corrupt dealings for year which reflects on the teams they are managing. Get back to basics to keep costs down and nurture the players to build a new club culture. Why pay players when you can nurture the juniors from clubs like Drummoyne and bring them in to a fun family orientated club with families that are willing to volunteer to restore a once great AFL club. You will only do this by starting fresh and getting rid of all the old heads.

This stems from the administration. They put no effort into the organisation of the club. They also fill players heads with empty promises - namely offering sums of money on contract that they have no intention of paying.

In 2012, our 1st team went down in the grand final. This year, less than half of that team remains, and will be lucky to stay in the same division.

They need to be a seamless business entity with a strong team. This is achievable for the Balmain footy club if they secure a great CEO/GM, coupled with a supporting and strategic executive committee who are all striving towards the same goals and objectives.
What is required, in my opinion, is to have an astute businessman with a large network of corporate connections – along with a “can-do” attitude, to assist the founding Sydney Football Club.
The club needs to turn around its image and perception within the sporting community, and the community as a whole. Go back to the basics and funnel the time and energy into the juniors to ensure the longevity of the club. As a business strategy, stay away from paying big dollars to recruit top line players, as history suggests they won’t stick around. Focus on the young kids coming through the ranks and build a sense of comradery. Make them want to stay at the club, where they have come through the ranks with their mates and won’t need to pay the absorbanent match fees.
