Opioids can be addictive and have many side effects. Complementary med. such as acupunture helps me to use smaller daily dose of meds. Although, acupunc. does not permanently relieve pain, it helps me use less med. and helps me to be more functional...i.e. to clean my own house to run errands. Also, acupuncture does not negatively affect liver,kidneys as does medication.
