Dear Minister, Please do not lend your hand to the destruction of First Nations Peoples' Lands, nor, large mining Corporations like SANTOS, as they have
not consulted properly with the Elders of the Communities involved.
Shale Gas drilling contaminates the underground water supply, earth and air, necassary for survival in remote areas of Central Australia. Tourism , as you know is the only income available to the Community members to live from and all will be lost and destroyed if SANTOS, carries on with their disasterous Shale Gas Exploration plan. I ask you to cancel your permission to SANTOS on the grounds that they used deceit to get the Elders of Watarrka (Kings Canyon) area to agree to their plan. They didn't explain fully what this drilling does to the Lands and water, which is the area's life source. We now understand what this drilling does and the contamination it causes and we do not agree it be implemented on Lurytja Country at all. We also dissagree it be done on Yakuntatjatjara/Pittjantajara Country. Coming so close to Uluru will drive the tourists away and we will loose our income from Tourism.
Please cancel immediately any permission given to SANTOS.
