It is quite upsetting when we meet people who ask if he's a husky and when told no he's an Alaskan Malamute say that's the dog that killed that baby. We get extremely defensive and annoyed. We have a 2 year old grand daughter who is slowly becoming confident around him and even bosses him around now but we would never dream of leaving her alone no matter how much he dotes on her and worries himself silly when she is upset. We have had Samoyeds - Spitz breed, as are Alaskan Malamutes and Huskies- for many years and not experienced aggression from them. It is unfair to brand Malamutes as dangerous, evil dogs on account of one tragic incident, which is not yet proven.

I believe this should not only be addressed to humans but animals also. If someone is suspected of a murder, they title it "Arrested on suspicion." Not "Evil man arrested for murder." This is because he has not yet been found guilty.

Attacks by dogs happen, but you have to always ask yourself "Why?" The Alaskan malamute who "allegedly" attacked a 6 day old baby had a traumatised past according to "The Sun" and therefore would by psychologically damaged, as would any child or adult who had been abused by the person they trust the most, their owner, their leader, their best friend and therefore may be suffering themselves, but by causing such chaos to every other dog owner is just going to make this problem worse.

Dogs are only dangerous if trained to be. Dogs don't have a voice, but we do. Humans kill animals every day, humans kill other humans, humans torture humans and animals... Yet they are the evil ones? They are the ones who get punished? Think.

Snow Dogs DO NOT deserve this name. It's just like saying if one child hurts another, then they are all ferocious animals. This is stereotyping. This is discrimination.

As an Alaskan malamute owner I can do nothing but praise the breed, they have an amazingly gentle temperament and are completely loving hence why people buy them, they are not a "statement" dog. I have had numerous dogs within my family but have never had a dog so gentle as our huskie Kai. I have also taken my kids to huskie racing events and they have enjoyed amazing cuddles with the other malamutes and huskies.
