I have been a Wiltshire resident all my life and believe the white horse represents wiltshire, the only thing that woudl change my mind would be a flag of a moonraker because Wiltshire isn't famouse for a bird at all

A flag should be used as a marker to communicate to others simply and quickly what body of person/group/ region/ it represents.
The 'Bustard Flag' is such a fussy image and not one that can be clearly read unless up close (not the purpose of a flag)
The White Horse flag on the other hand, simply works!
It is simple, clear and easily identified and represents the county perfectly

Here, I've just stumbled upon that ridiculous flag with the moustachioed duck on it (I know it's a Bustard, but it ain't Wiltshire, is it?). I wrote a letter in the Wiltshire Times June 5th about this, and got a stinging reply supporting The Duck and scorning the White Horse on June 12th. You'll have my full support forevermore.

I was born and lived in Wiltshire until the age of 18. I have worked and lived in many different countries and none compare to my home county. Savernake Forest, Salisbury Cathedral and Plain, The Vale of Pewsey, Silbury Hill, Devizes Locks, Crofton Beam Engines, Marlborough High Street, Stonehenge, Avebury to name but a few are very precious and the county that holds these ancient sites deserves a recognisable flag. The White Horse is the true spirit of Wiltshire in it's entirety.

I'm originally from Wiltshire and I love this idea for a county flag. In my view it is far more appropriate than the Great Bustard design. Unfortunately I think the latter is a very poor design when compared with the county flags of Devon, Dorset or Kent and has the look of a logo belonging to a minor football team!

A flag for the people of Wiltshire to fly should not be a commercial venture, but a matter of pride. The White Horse is the natural symbol. As opposed to a, frankly ugly, picture of an obscure bird which I suspect many people in the county do not even recognise.
