My husband and numerous friends and family have incurred parking fines for parking outside our house and for purely misjudging the time. The most frustrating ticket received was one when my then 2 year old son, who was potty training at the time, required the toilet and as such we needed to make a mad dash in the house and did not have time to move cars. We were literally parked outside for a few minutes and received a fine.

We notice the penalty car purposely driving round our roads just as it strikes 2 pm. One time we receiveda fine as we were 2 minutes over 2pm.

As a resident we have tried to appeal the parking fines issued, but no grace is provided. As a resident, who pays their council tax to live in Thorpe Bay, I am appalled that I can incur a fine when parking outside MY own house.

I have friends who live in areas outside the Southend area e.g. London, who have restricted parking. However, their Councils provide a set of parking permits that can be provided to guests.

Residents feel very strongly about this matter and the Council can fix this problem by providing parking permits.
