Mr Mark Wiemers, Camp Hill, Queensland, Australia
I wrote to the Brisbane City Council on 25 June 2007 advising that traffic calming measures were required in Melbourne Avenue. I received a response on 3 July 2007 advising that a full report would be forwarded. I am yet to receive anything further. As a parent of young children I have long been concerned about the speed with which vehicles travel along the Promenade and each of the avenues. It is inevtiable that someone will eventually be killed or seriously injured unless action is taken.

mrs Jody O'Sullivan, Camp Hill, QLD, Australia
I have contacted the council on several occasions to ask for traffic calming measures, but am told there are no funds in the budget. I was flabbergasted when I saw a completely unecessary roundabout recently built nearby, in a location that has in fact caused increased danger. There are many children in this area and a tragic accident is an inevitability if something is not done soon.

Mrs Emma Lawlor, Camp Hill, Qld, Australia
The Promenade is used as a rat-run between Stanley and Creek Roads, and is getting increasingly dangerous. Cars come down the hill at huge speeds, and I think it is only a matter of time before there is a really serious accident. There are lots of children in this area and the speeding cars worry me enormously. Something needs to be done. Apart from the bad accident last week, I have witnessed countless near accidents on our corner.

Mrs Danielle Millar, Brisbane, Qld, Australia
Just in addition I would like to reiterate the fact that we are constantly seeing cars speeding up The Promenade. As a mother with a young child, I was extremely disturbed to see the car accident last week. My child often plays with her neighbours, sticking to the footpath however it's frightening to think that the impact of the accident saw a wheel fly off one of the cars into somebody's yard. I dread to think about the 'what if's' had children been on or near the footpaths that day.

Mr Robert Gunner, Carina, Qld, Australia
As a resident of The Promenade for over 40 years. I strongly object to Traffic Calming of any kind. The round-about like all traffic calming gives drivers, residents and pedestrians a false senses of saftey. The accident round-a-bout is poorly designed and often road users don't understand how to use a round-about. The old Give Way sign worked better and was safer. If speeding is a problem then it is a policing issue. I would rather the council spend money on arterial roads and public transport.

Mr Scott Watts, camp hill, qld, Australia
I live near the round-about. I own a large CC motorcycle, and also a high proformance car.
A stop sign and REASONABLE speed bumps (similar to the streets otherside of stanley) through out the neighbourhood would be enough. The intersection in question is way to small for a raised roundabout, thats why people cut it as it is.
Their are drop kicks that use these streets as race tracks, and unfortunatly, me being 21, and male, i get labelled with the same stick

I live in Melbourne Avenue and I feel tha it is only a matter of time before we have a serious accident in this street also with cars exceeding the speed limit. With many parked cars it means there is quite often only enough room for one way very dangerous.

On many occassions I have almost been wiped out trying to back out of my driveway. The number of vehicles using The Promenade as a through road been Stanley Street and Creek Road plus the excessive speeding has esculated over the last few years. I have witnessed on many occasions vehicles not slowing down in fact having total disregard for intersections and round abouts making these areas very unsafe for other motorists and pedestrians.
Mrs Melika Davies, Camp Hill, Qld, Australia
This street is a shortcut to Creek Road. Traffic has always been a concern and increasingly so over the last couple of years, most vehicles come down the hill at great speeds to the roundabout at sydney avenue. As we are located at the bottom of that hill we see first hand how fast they travel. We've thought it was only a matter of time when one of these vehicles lost control and hit something. I'm extremely concerned.

Mr Matt Casson, camp hill, Queenlsnad, Australia
Enough is Enough!
When will council listen to the concerns of the local residents in Camp Hill. The promenade has become short cut with drivers disregarding speed limits constantly. Someone is going to get killed! We need speed humps and speed limiting alterations on this road. Just count how many times the signs on the round about have needed to be replaced!

Will Cr Shayne Sutton take full responsibility when something goes tragically. Its TIME FOR ACTION and NOT EXCUSES!

Mr Tony Williams, Camp Hill, Qld, Australia
I have lived on The Promenade since March and have regularly heard several cars accelerating down the hill and across the roundabout without slowing. It is only a matter of time before there is a fatality if something is not done.

Ms Jacqueline FitzGerald, Camp Hill, Qld, Australia
At a minimum the roundabout at the corner of Sydney Avenue and The Promenade needs a raised section so that cars don't travel across the top at speed. Hoons frequently speed along this street, which is heavily populated with young families.

Ms Jennifer LeSauvage, Camp Hill, QLD, Australia
There is not a day that goes by where I do not hear a car roar down that hill right over the top of the round-about. I have seen many near misses, a dog killed & heard numerous smashes. This morning came the loud bang we all wait for when we hear cars screech sideways over that roundabout. One car collected another. I am thankful that no-one was badly injured and only because neither my husband nor anyone else happened to be walking their dog in that usually popular spot at that exact time.
