All they had to do was keep him slightly sedated in order to control his then focal fits.
Never has my dog fitted for longer than 2 mins in my care or our vets care. This is because we controlled them by giving him diazepam.Yet whilst he was in their care, he fitted for longer than 2 minutes to the point his temperature risen and he needed oxygen and to be cool bathed !
This happened at 6.30am and on the paper report it shows they never gave him any imediate medication ( rectal diazepam or through IV !
We was told they'd call us if they needed to heavily sedated. They didn't call because " by the time we'd got there it would of been time to pick him up but this was 2 hours prior.
Then they only heavily sedated him at 8.17am and I had to pick him up at 8.30am.
I was then told he wasn't fit to travel and that I should have him
I refused and told her to get him

Vets now failed to operate on her despite her having life threatening injuries and I had to transport her to and from the PDSA hospital and my vets. I had a 760 bill for very little.
My vets were disgusted that my cat was not operated on whilst with vets now. What's more vets now said they hadn't taken X-rays and tuft send them to my vets even though they had taken X-rays. A ludicrous service taking advantage of people when they are vulnerable. I will be changing vets to one who do have 24 services.
I have also been told of other peoples experiences where one woman's dog died but Vets Now wouldn't tell her why it had died but wanted to charge her 200 regardless. Not sure of the end of the story as I had to go in for my pet.

Our dog was left on drip to deteriorate. Second vet uncaring and disinterested. After complaint we found out that even when dog got symptoms of liver failure vet just left her on drip and did not inform us for 7hrs. Vet’s excuse was she could not investigate our dog’s condition without consulting us about costs! But this vet made no effort to consult us in 7hrs. Besides consent form had enough funds for tests. Even when I phoned clinic to ask about our dog was still not told of her serious condition for 2hrs. Took them over 24hrs to get round to tests. By then dog had severe and uncontrollable pain. They’d let her deteriorate so far that pain relief was no longer working. Found vets uncaring, dishonest and contravening RCVS guidelines. Our dog’s welfare was not their priority. We were devastated by our dog’s final hours at Vets Now.

Complained to RCVS as vets breached RCVS guidelines for professional conduct. The vets at Vets Now did not have any genuine concern for our dog. Treatment dragged out instead of looking for cause. Feel ripped off; deceived, and furious at the prolonged, unnecessary suffering caused to our dog when it could have been avoided.

We was told she would go straight to theatre and then we would be phoned to let us know how it went. This was at 6pm, We got a call at 4am to tell us she was only just going for the op and we would have to pick her up at 6.30am the following morning, when we arrived Lilly was brought out with the iv cath still attached and we was told we would have to take her to our own vets for further day care which would of course cost us more Vets now were not sympathetic and didnt seem to care about the prices they are charging! On our invoice we was also shocked to find we were charged £7.50 for swabs!!!! how do they get away with this? Surely there should be some sort of regs??

So I was sitting agonising over whether I could afford to do that - maybe I was just overly worried about my pet - maybe it would be ok if I waited - but what if it really IS very ill and doesn't last the night - it's a sick thing to have to go through. My vet practice, who until now I’ve been happy with, uses “Vets Now” for out of hours cover, does yours?
If so you need to register your pet somewhere else. Not only was I ripped off I was pressured for a deposit off £200 pounds within five mins of arriving, and above all my dog was treated appallingly.
I had to pick my dog up at 730am, had to pay the balance on arrival, and take him to my day vet, they removed his drips and gave them to me in a carrier bag. I then sat outside my vets waiting for them to open. At 530pm I had to take him back to Vets Now, where I had to pay the deposit again and the balance the next morning. Each time he was distressed at me leaving him. I wasn’t happy with this and was told I could solve the problem by been overcharged for a pet ambulance. As the saying goes “At least Dick Turpin wore a mask”.

The so called 'investigation' carried out afterwards consisted of little more than a PR exercise for them. They never answered any direct questions or admitted any mistakes. They know there practice cannot be challenged or their livelihoods threatened as there is no Ombudsman regulating there practice, so they are allowed to carry practising with no restrictions. I will never use any veterinary practice that supports and contracts there out of hours provision to this Company. Veterinary practices should acknowledge that if they do contract out there Out of Hours provision to another provider that they still have ultimately responsibility for the quality of care that their clients receive, and accept that experiences like this loose them custom as well. When confronted with a 'real' emergency is it too much to ask for a well trained, experienced vet to be available rather than a poorly qualified and inexperinced ones that are completley out of their depth?

We had a dog having fits which had already been seen by our own vet the day before so they knew the cause was the sedative used as it was on the records of treatment- no diagnosis needed. It was on a Sunday and we paid £200 'deposit' when we left him there at 4pm. We collected him from our own vets and paid the bill they gave us for their treatment so thought everything was paid up. Got a call today, a two weeks later saying we owed Vets now another £146.00!! They only kept him in overnight and just out him on the drugs my own vets had said her needed if he fitted again so all the work was done for them.
How can it cost £346 to care for a dog that you already know what's wrong with it and the drugs cost £46 for a whole weeks worth...it's ridiculous.

Vtsnow money grabbing, hard hearted and understaffed. it is so obvious the animals care is a secondary priority to the nights takings. Will never use or recommend to anybody who cares about their animals.
