- Parliament of Zimbabwe

- Zimbabwe
Zimbabwe's parliamentary representation has been increased from 120 elected members in 1980, plus 30 appointed members, to 350 in 2018. While there has been some feeble justification by politicians that they have 60 women elected on quota basis, and that this is an attempt to increase female representation, the cost that is borne by Zimbabweans in carrying these members of parliament is not justifiable. Other countries with much larger populations than Zimbabwe do not have so many MPs. We demand a return to 120MPs or less. Zimbabwe is a poor country that cannot afford 350 MPs
We the undersigned demand that Zimbabwe's Parliament should urgently table an amendment to the constitution in order to;
1. Reduce the number of MPs in both House of Assembly and Senate to 120 or less
2. Elect all MPs through proportional representation
