I was one of the many unfortunate festival goers who was the subject of the councils shameful parking ticket 'frenzy' on Sat 1st June 2013 at the yearly Edinburgh 'Meadow's festival. There should be some leniency given by the council on occasions such as this, we should all stand up and demand they be abolished.
We pay enough taxes on the roads. It's not often we get a 'free' festival where everyone in the community has a chance to get together and enjoy some festivities. One day a year is all we are asking.
We pay parking all year round, it's time the council gave a little back. Edinburgh has been plagued with roadworks, diversions, longer waits, not to mention the TRAMS! for years now.
Inject FUN into Edinburgh not FINES.
We, the undersigned, call on the City of Edinburgh Council to eliminate any parking fines given around the area of the 'Meadow's' on Saturday the 3rd of June. And allowing parking on all future meadow's festival events.
There is not enough room for everyone to park their car in this area, so inevitably people will get parking tickets.
We think this is unfair. We pay road tax, and parking all year, every year. The meadow's festival is once a year, it's a charity run organisation http://www.meadowsfestival.org/ and relies on the public funding for it to happen. Edinburgh has been subject to constant roadworks over the past 4/5 years, with road diversions, traffic jams, not to mention the trams!
All we are asking is for some leniency, it's time the local council gave a little back to their city of Edinburgh.
