Handz On! Just changed its name and we are now called C-ArtWorKz & Unified 1's, we are an organization with a not-for-profit agent that was energized last summer over the possibility of the Multicultural Festival having amusement rides at Reservoir Park.
Until (Moose) the Mayor’s Office of Special Events said that no rides were allowed in City parks nor have any rides ever been allowed in that park. The founder told the staff that rides did used to be allowed in the park and she had arranged for them to be there. The staff accused her of sneaking the rides into the park. The founder went home and bought back proof that she did not sneak rides into the park and she showed them proclamations from both the Mayor and the State Representative along with newspaper articles.
The fair is something the founder used to do with assistance from youth in the community and it attracted hundreds of people to the park each summer from not only the city but the county as well.
We are hoping that this petition will change the policy in place with the Parks Department and the Moose to allow amusement rides in the Reservoir Park again.
We, the undersigned, call on the Mayor to eliminate the policy of not allowing Amusement rides in the Reservoir Park.
Amusement Rides at Reservoir Park offer an opportunity for residents of the inner city to enjoy an event with amusement rides within walking distance of where they live.
