The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is planning to finalize its rules on e-cigarettes and other products that relate to the vaping industry. While some regulation may be necessary, certain proposals are overly burdensome to small businesses.
For example, it is proposed that vape shops be required to obtain federal approval for e-liquids sold at vape shops. Compliance could cost small businesses millions of dollars, and it would essentially spell the end of many small businesses that have provided products that help smokers quit their habit.
Before enacting such sweeping regulation, we feel more comprehensive research needs to be done on the effects of vaping. Once such studies are completed, a less burdensome approach to regulating the industry seems more viable.
Urge the federal government not to pass sweeping regulation that will make many small shops go out of business.
