My name is Billy Gates. I wrote this petition because I believe that same-sex marriage should not be legalized in the United States of America. While the main reasons for my beliefs are religious, I decided not to address religious beliefs in the petition, to avoid some amount of conflict.
Since the formal petition can only be 1000 characters long, the rest of the petition can be seen below. If there is anything in this petition you do not agree with, please do not sign it.
"... To resolve the issue, we want a law to be passed by congress that will make same-sex marriage illegal in every state of the United States of America.
We also do not want individual states to be able to decide the marriage laws in their jurisdiction. We believe that this issue is dividing the United States as a whole and that action should be taken quickly."
We, the undersigned, believe that gay marriage should not be legalized in the United States. We also believe that people in homosexual unions should not recieve the same priveleges that heterosexuals recieve in marriage.
We are rational citizens of the United States, with a complaint we wish to present to the congress of the United States. We do not encourage hate crimes towards gays, we simply believe that the homosexual lifestyle should not be endorsed by the government by way of legalizing same-sex marriage.
