As of Sunday September 5 there have been 69 glassings in Perth Western Australia this year. They have all been at licensed venues. There's not one reason good enough for this to be happening. It's life threatening & the side affects could be long term. All glass needs to be banned to prevent more vicious & sickening attacks from happening.
According to the WA Today site on August 12 2010 "The Police Commissioner will not call for an across the board ban on glassware in WA nightspots ". On Sunday August 8 A glassing occurred at the Ambar Nightclub this like many attacks were unprovoked.
Are the venues not doing enough? i.e. not identifying drunkenness/under the influence quick enough
Should the premier of WA plus government ministers go out to northbridge (not at 9pm) between 10pm -6am to see what its really like?
We would like to know your thoughts in this petition tell everyone you know about this friends family etc for not only your safety but your friends and family and everyone In WA and if something is not done about this it can result in death which can easily be preventable.
Stricter laws and justice needs to be done about this now something needs to be done about the glass. Please sign this petition and request the state government to do something URGENTLY. before the end of this year.
We are calling upon the State Government of Western Australia, Director General of Liquor Licensing, WA Police Commissioner and relevant Ministers and parties to ban glass from licensed venues.
We believe this is the greatest immediate step that can be undertaken to reduce the amount of glassings taking place in these licensed venues. Yes this will come at a cost but you cannot put a price on public safety.
