Mechanical doping is the use of "fetlock boots" on the hind limbs of a number of horses who are designed to have a pernicious effect, they pinch the tendon and lead(infer) a reaction which artificially improve the performance at the cost of certain wounds.
Thus their ban allows to protect the welfare of the horse, allows to have fair competitions, allows a correct selection of the breeding horses. (by having the breeders able to compare the “real” qualities of the future breeding animal).
The F.E.I. (the governing body of the equestrian sport) recognized the importance of the problem and made the decision to forbid this type of mechanical doping for horses up to the age of seven years and it's essential and urgent that this decision is widened to all the horses whatever is their age (there is no reason for having a difference according to the age when the physical integrity of the horse is in question)
We, the undersigned, call on the Fédération Équestre Internantionale (F.E.I.) to ban the mehcanical doping created by "fetlock boots" that are designed to have a pernicious effect. They pinch the tendon and lead(infer) a reaction which artificially improves the performance of the horse at the cost of certain wounds.
