Services are being cut in Barnet in order that Council Tax can be frozen for the fourth consecutive year and I think that it is just plain wrong.
If Council Tax were increased by 2.5% each year an extra £44m would be available to fund services during the next decade.
We, the undersigned, call on Barnet Council to stop closing libraries, day-centres & museums, and to stop making cuts to services or to financial support (e.g. Council Tax Support ) for the elderly and the disadvantaged.
We call on you not to continue with the fourth annual Council Tax freeze in 2013/14 and in future to increase Council Tax on the basis of inflation less real in-house efficiency savings and not based upon cuts to valued services.
