Domiciliary Care Workers are the silent work force, the people saving the NHS and government hundreds of thousands of pounds every hour of every day.
We are out from dusk til dawn, washing, dressing, feeding and helping vulnerable adults stay in their own homes. All the jobs that make most people shudder that we don't bat an eyelid at, and in return we get a pittance towards the petrol and running costs of our cars that we have to use to visit clients, it often works out that we are below minimum wage, we don't get bonuses, or pensions, sick or maternity pay.
Why are the carers not cared for? Why are we forgotten? Where's the incentive for recruitment?
We, the undersigned, ask David Cameron to help make life fair for carers and give Better Care for Carers.
