Jemel Roberson, a security guard who safely apprehended an armed suspect, was killed by a responding police officer while he was in the line of duty. Jemel's memory and sacrifice, and that of other security guards should be recognized in the same right as those police officers. Particularly because the duty of Police Officers and Security Guards often go hand in hand as seen in Jemel's case. The relationship between security guards and police officers will continue to be of importance considering recent developments involving armed shooters.
We the undersigned, call on Blue Line Productions Inc. and manufacturers of the Thin Blue Line American Flag, and the Thin Blue Line identifier, in honor of Jemel Roberson and in recognition of security guards whom also exemplify that courage, that the official Thin Blue Line American Flag and identifier be amended to include a single black star, in the center of the Thin Blue Line. The black background of the flag and identifier was designed as a constant reminder of fallen officers, and the black star would signify the same for Jemel and those security guards whom have paid the ultimate price.
