Capital Punishment for murder was abolished in Britain in 1969.

For many years I felt that there was something fundamentally wrong with a society that takes a life in the name of Justice. However, as time goes on and I see more and more harrowing news items about children and infants being tortured and killed, I am now of the opinion that Capital Punishment for murder should be reintroduced into the United Kingdom.

Amnesty International states that the Death Penalty 'violates the right to life as proclaimed in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights'. But what about the Human Rights of victims, aren't they entitled to the Right to Life and Prohibition of Torture? The Death Penalty may well be 'the ultimate denial of Human Rights' but if you take another's life then you should no longer benefit from the protections afforded under any legislation.

Mary Marsh, Director of NSPCC stated in 2002 that 'over the last 30 years, hundreds of children have been beaten, starved, burned, suffocated, poisoned, shaken, strangled or stabbed to death by their parents.'

A Jail term is no longer a deterrent. Bring back the Death Penalty.
