I have read for the most part that Cartoon network took CTCD off the air due to Morbid Comedy and Dark Humor.
In my case most of the shows on nowadays have Plenty of Innuendos and jokes that go even further than Courage the Cowardly dog. It ran for a few years and in my opinion did pretty decent.
