Three sandcruiser beach wheelchairs have been removed from Lakes Beach at Budgewoi due to the volunteer organisation that owned the wheelchairs can no longer afford to keep them running and insured.
These beach wheelchairs are in some cases the only way for some disabled residents and visitors to enjoy the full enjoyment of the sand and water on our beautiful beaches.
The beach wheelchairs can however be placed back at Lakes beach (which has just been fully decked out with a brand new disability ramp), only if Wyong Shire Council agrees to take over the ownership and costs of the chairs.
We, the undersigned, call on Wyong Shire Council to agree to take on ownership and responsibility of the Sandcruiser beach wheelchairs and return them to Lakes Beach, Budgewoi.
