We are fighting on behalf of Leverage, a show canceled in 2012 by TNT after five seasons. The show followed a group of con artists who helped innocent people who had nowhere else to go. Leverage presented a unique spin on the con not seen in previous shows, and included superb characters, plot development, writing, and production. Overall, it was a refreshing mix of drama and comedy to watch in contrast to mainstream shows.

One of the reasons cited by TNT for the cancellation was falling ratings of the show in the fifth season, even though the show achieved decent ratings in the fifth season. As cited by tvseriesfinale.com, the fifth season of Leverage averaged a 0.7 rating in the 18-49 demo with an average of two and a half million live viewers. When comparing these numbers with current shows, these ratings and viewership numbers exceed the ratings and viewership of the majority of current or newer shows across multiple networks. The fifth season premier and finale both achieved over three million viewers, and the fifth season itself achieved noteworthy ratings despite the episodes being inconsistently aired by the network.

The fan base of Leverage is continually growing and active. The show has over 800,000 followers on Facebook, a number that has been growing continuously even after the show’s cancellation. Thousands participate in posts on the show’s page, a number that rivals current shows on many networks. Through applications such as Netflix and Hulu, as well as recommendations from friends and fans, more people are being exposed to the show and growing the fan base. The fans have fought hard for the show, as seen by Leverage being the first canceled TV show to win the People’s Choice Award for Favorite Cable TV Drama in 2013, and the fans are still fighting five years later. If a network were to pick up Leverage, it would inherit a large and enthusiastic fan base.

We ask that consideration be given to renew Leverage. We believe that the network that picks up the show again will be rewarded with large viewership consisting of those who watched the show when it was still airing, those who have become fans since the show was canceled, and viewers of the network itself. The quality, ratings, and fan base of Leverage make it worthy of being brought back to television.
