Waterford City is an education centre producing highly qualified graduates on an annual basis in fields such as ICT, Engineering and the Sciences. It is also home to innovative businesses such as the TSSG and EirGen Pharma. Sadly it is also a centre of high unemployment.
New jobs announcements of late have included EA games in Galway or Northern Trust in Limerick, yet none in Waterford.
Waterford has experienced a drought in such announcements and the purpose of this petition is to announce to the Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation and IDA Ireland that Waterford has a voice and a wants to see new jobs and new business brought to Waterford. To tell Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation Richard Bruton and IDA CEO Barry O'Leary that Waterford needs and wants to be promoted as a centre for business and innovation with access to a local Airport, Port and a direct motorway connection to the capital a strong ICT infrastructure and a highly qualified workforce.
We the people of Waterford request that the Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation Richard Bruton and IDA CEO Barry O'Leary drive and promote the benefits of bringing new business and industry to Waterford County to fully utilise the facilities, location and workforce in the county and the south east.
