GABRIOLA BRIDGE SOCIETY
The Gabriola Bridge Society is a group of island residents who are dedicated to a sustainable community on Gabriola and are asking for the BC Provincial Ministry of Transportation to provide detailed information on an alternate to the current BC Ferries controlled access to the island.
Benefits range from emergency access to Nanaimo Regional Hospital to inexpensive visits from family and friends. We also feel that young people will be able to afford to pursue post-secondary education and employment opportunities in Nanaimo without having to leave the island.
The length of two small, two lane bridges would be approximately 500 feet. The distance BC ferry travels per round trip is 17 kilometers.
We the undersigned call on the BC Minister of Transportation to built a fixed link, from Gabriola Island to Vancouver Island.
