This petition has been setup following the news that a national power company has filed an application to Hertsmere Borough Council (application 14/1365) to build a gas burning power station on farmland adjacent to Berry Grove Lane, Bushey, Watford, Herts.
The application specifies an area of 3000 square meters of farmland will be used to accommodate 8 gas burning turbines with 8 chimneys over 12 meters high on concrete slabs, further more there will also be the requirement for further concreting of the farmland to accommodate the ancillary equipment like cooling radiators, plant rooms etc which are expected to be approximately 6 meters high.
All this will be enclosed by a 3 meter high metal palisade fencing which is best suited to industrial areas and not an area which borders the river Colne and has potential to exacerbate flooding in the area.
The area is also rich in wild life including a bat reserve and is surrounded by green fields.
