When Brian Burke took the job in Toronto, he stated: "We require, as a team, proper levels of pugnacity, testosterone, truculence and belligerence. That's how our teams play."
The Leafs need to intimidate their opponents on the ice, and in the arena to gain confidence and character. All I see now are a bunch of individual players, but a group that just needs that extra bit of solidarity. The overall rink environment is critical to the support of the team, and I believe that the goal song played is an understated, but important element.
I believe that the Leafs need a more serious sort of gruff, demoralizing song for their opponents. Anything but the current song from the 2011-12 season, a sad reminder of what could have been.
We, Leafs Nation, call on Maple Leafs Sports Entertainment to change the Leafs goal song to put the current goal song to death, to never speak of it again - and to assign a more defining and character building score to boost the Leafs confidence, yet induce fear in the enemy.
