Eight acres of Clairton School District property between Lafayette Drive and Thompson Avenue, known as "Mr. Z's Field," has been sold to a developer who intends to build a soccer complex on that site. The field and its surrounding woods have given this Clairton neighborhood its quiet appeal for many years, and residents are concerned about how the transformation of this property will affect everyday life. Our concerns include:
1. Increased traffic and possible overflow parking throughout our narrow residential streets.
2. Deforestation to build access roads from Lafayette Drive and Thompson Ave, as well as the construction of parking lots and an indoor facility, will have both environmental and aesthetic consequences that have not been fully studied.
3. Light pollution from the field lights of the outdoor facility.
4. Safety and security issues may arise from an unmonitored site in a residential neighborhood.
5. The intermittent benefit of a soccer complex to a small cross section of residents in Clairton does not appear to outweigh the daily effects this facility will have on all the residents in our neighborhood.

With these concerns, the undersigned residents of Clairton feel that the soccer complex between Lafayette Drive and Thompson Avenue, as currently proposed, will be out of place in our neighborhood, and humbly request that the Mayor and City Council of Clairton reevaluate this proposal before proceeding any further.
