Conduct a Parliamentary Enquiry into the Waroona / Harvey bushfires

We the undersigned residents of Western Australia are concerned about the management of the 2016 Waroona / Harvey bushfires by the Department of Fire & Emergency Services.

Your petitioners therefore respectfully request the Legislative council to conduct a Parliamentary Enquiry into the operation of DFES as they relate to the management of recent bushfire emergencies. In particular communication of:

1/ The imminent danger to the community,

2/ The limitations imposed on bushfire personnel and the community to make on the spot judgements for applications such as back burning or the use of appliances to immediately take action to control the threat of fire,

3/ Co-ordination between government departments and volunteers,

4/ When the emergency threat of the fire is over, the ability for people to obtain supplies for themselves and their stock and return to their properties.
