A permit has been approved by Vic Roads and the Boroondara Council for a lane closure in Denmark Street north bound from Wellington Street to the Kew Junction. The permit is from 10am to 3pm Monday to Friday and from 7am to 5pm Saturday.
The lane closure is to enable Developers to construct a multi level apartment building at the Kew Junction. As a result of the permit traffic is gridlocked and causing congestion, lengthy delays and inconvenience to local residents, businesses and travellers.
Residents have no right to object or appeal against the closure. We are not even advised of any closure which is in the hands of Vic Roads and the Boroondara Council.
The Boroondara Council is not looking after ratepayers interests and approved the permit. It is believed another development is planned at the sight after completion of the current development.
In the interests of locals and traffic we must do everything to stop the chaos by these lane closures.
The signatures will be submitted to Boorondara Council and the Local State Member for Kew the Hon Andrew McIntosh MLA.
WE WANT RESIDENTS TO HAVE A SAY AND BE HEARD IN THEIR AREA.
We the undersigned call on the City of Boroondara, & Vic Roads to reconsider the permit issued for the closure of a north bound traffic lane in Denmark Street between Wellington Street and the Kew Junction.
To recognize the impact to residents and traffic caused by the development and to consider this in the issuing of future permits.
