It is the resolution of the Dexter Park Community located in the vicinity of Oriole Street, Wren Place and Cardinal Street, along with surrounding communities in Aiken, SC, that we oppose the re-zoning to commercial and the proposed development of a storage facility or any construction of any kind, on the property located between the homes on Oriole Street, Wren Place and the businesses on Silver Bluff Rd. We contend that this parcel is not suited for any type of development.
A more appropriate use for this parcel would be green space that would be available to the residents of this area for the enjoyment of nature. The area’s high aesthetic value as well as its ability to serve as a buffer to the busy traffic on Silver Bluff Rd, makes it valuable to the community as a public park.
With the rising use of storage facilities as havens for clandestine drug production and storage, we have no desire to have our communities exposed to such danger or the high probability that our property value will be reduced by ten percent.
We, the undersigned, call on the Aiken City Planning Commission and Aiken City Council to vote “No” on granting David Miles, BDM Development LLLC, the re-zoning and the ability to construct a storage facility on the green space surrounded by Silver Bluff Rd, Oriole Street and Wren place.
