Farndon Primary School has been serving the community of Farndon and surrounding areas for many generations. It continues to do so successfully but in spite of its status as a highly regarded and sustainable school it struggles in its efforts to secure funding for its vital infrastructure needs.
These include:
• The wholly inadequate mobile classrooms;
• The grossly inadequate toilet facilities;
• The urgent need for improvements to the playground area.
Cheshire County Council has pursued its controversial “Transforming Learning Communities” policy which has failed to address the needs of schools like ours.
The Government has recently initiated its “Every Child Matters: Primary Capital Programme” aimed at improving primary school infrastructure to support the delivery of the Government’s “Children’s Plan”.
They have allocated funding to County Councils throughout the UK specifically aimed at creating primary schools fit for the 21st century. Cheshire County Council is currently undergoing a split into the two unitary authorities of East and West Cheshire.
It is vital that at this time of change we make the needs of our school clear so that in the transference of roles and responsibilities and funding they do not lose sight of the needs of schools such as ours. We therefore urge all of you and anyone else you believe would share our concerns to sign the petition below and ensure that the needs of our school our met.
We, the undersigned, call on Cheshire County Council to provide the necessary funding to address the urgent need for improvements to the infrastructure of Farndon Primary School.
