On 1 March 2007 a group of 14 people, 5 Europeans and 9 Ethiopians, were kidnapped by a group of armed men from the village of Hamed Ela, in the Afar Regional State.
The Europeans were released in Asmara 12 days later, the 9 Ethiopians are still held captive. Are they being ignored because they are expendable Ethiopians?
We, the undersigned, call on the UN and the international community to exert maximum pressure on the Eritrean governement to secure the immediate and unconditional release of the Ethiopian captives.
