Here is my 2 year old Victorian bulldog RIngo. He is the most happiest playful dog ever, he loves children especially... Ringo had a few wee incidents where he attacked our local postman twice. I am not condoling what he has done but 1st time I think was protection as the postman lifted his arm to hand his machine to sign for a parcel Ringo jumped up and grabbed onto his arm, 2nd time he actually jumped the fence and went for the postman grabbing onto his arm again. He did draw blood twice. I feel I should be punished. Not Ringo!
I should have had a muzzel on him after the 1st incident but the postman arrived at an unexpected time and unfortunately my front door was open as I had been washing the floors and opened the door to let them dry quicker and didn't think out the box as he is an amazing wee guy with everyone. I don't know what his reason for attacking the postman is & if he could speak I'm sure he would tell me. Bearing in mind he is amazing with everyone else and folk who know him will justify this. This is now within the hands of Strathclyde police and the procurator fiscal who has an investigation underway to see exactly what temperament Ringo has.
When police arrived to take Ringo from our home he even happily licked them to death, so uniform dosen't concern him but this once certain postman does. There is 2 options here either Ringo will be released home or he will be 'destroyed'. Not doing a sympathy path here as I know what Ringo has done is wrong but there is obviously a reason, and i can only apologise on both our behalf for his unacceptable behaviour. I am currently working on ways to secure entry for the postman while Ringo is being held at Strathclyde police kennels. I am doing this petition just for folk who know Ringo to leave a signature of acceptance of Ringos amazing behaviour towards adults children and other animals. He does not deserve to be punished as I take full responsibility for not having him muzzled. Ringo is a guidance dog for my 5 year old son Ryan who has autism. He has helped Ryan in many ways, to walk, befriend and even communication. They are truely best friends and after rehoming Ringo in 2015 due to a family breakdown and work commitments I took to social media to find him again as Ryan wouldn't settle without him. Funnily enough the couple who took him - one was a postman, one was a nurse (I don't know if maybe previous owner 'postman' has harmed him). It took me a year to track him down after they also rehomed him for doing the toilet indoors and chewing furniture (to me this seems he wasn't looked after properly) but I was scared for him and wasn't given in until he was back home and safe with me. I finally got there and have managed to settle Ryan again as Ringo is (was) back home. We are (were) totally made up to have had our wee fella back home and I can't bare to lose him again. I am not looking for folk to say this is acceptable because I know it's not, I can't imagine how terrified the postman must be, and I can't stop thinking about him, having being attacked by a few dogs in my past I know how shaking it can leave you.
All I ask is for people who know Ringo to take 5 minutes out ur time to sign this if you Agree that he is the beautiful playful boy that my family know, and what I have said here is the truth. I'm absolute devastated to say the least to know he isn't lying at the bottom of my bed tonight. I know nothing will take the fear away from the postman but I am also working on secure entry for him and I am willing to pay the price of compensation for the postman to have some time off work and also the price of the Strathclyde kennels. As I have said I don't condone what my dog has done but he's not a bad dog atall, never been in trouble until this incident. I fear A postman (previous owner) may have harmed him in the past & I don't want Ringo 'destroyed' for protecting himself and his family if this is the case. He has been passed about a bit since I 1st rehomed him with folk who I vet checked and believed who were ideal for him, thankfully he is back in safe hands (or was back in safe hands until this incident).
Please take 5 minutes to sign this if you agree with what I am saying.
Thanks
