* In the last 2 years, on-street Parking Permits in CT6 have gone up by over 37% for residents and by 140% for visitors.
* Parking Permits in CT6 will continue to go up.
* Parking Permits in CT6 will go up above the rate of inflation.
* Parking Permits in CT6 will go up above the rate of inflation for a number of years to come.
How do we know that? One of the authors of this petition has been told, “… it is inevitable that, for a number of years, costs will have to increase at a rate higher than that of inflation.”
When he asked how any surplus revenue would be used, he was told, “… the preparation and investigation of new traffic management and parking schemes, CCTV surveillance … car park lighting and structural maintenance and repair.”
We believe Permit holders are therefore being disadvantaged by subsidising services which should be paid for in full by all Council Tax payers and it’s time to speak out. If you agree, we ask you to add your name to this petition.
As residents and permit-holders in CT6, we call on Canterbury City Council to freeze the cost of residents’ and visitors’ on-street parking permits for three years and to limit future increases to the rate of inflation at the time of each review.
