Government must regulate Internet Services in Seychelles

The people of Seychelles are paying exorbitant prices for Internet services in Seychelles.

Many in Seychelles have complained about the high prices of Internet data and the high monthly fee they have to pay for broadband Internet packages.

Compared to other countries in the region, notably Mauritius our neighboring country you can get unlimited monthly Internet package for less than 1000/- Mauritian rupees.

Seychelles has the most expensive Internet services in Africa. The Seychellois people have complained of monthly Internet charges in excess of 5000 Seychelles rupees to 25,000.

Internet services cost more than the average salaries of the Seychellois people. The Government must step up and look into the companies that are overcharging and stealing from the Seychellois people. Internet connections in not a luxury in Seychelles and in the global village, it is a necessary asset that enables the Seychellois people to remain connected with one another and to the world.

It is a valuable form of communication and research mechanism. It gives a voice to the Seychelles people on Social Media and it is an invaluable source of information. Therefore we the Seychellois people are petitioning the government and relevant bodies to look into this matter and help the Seychellois people to get an affordable and sufficient internet services.
