As you as well aware Stalking has become an increasing large problem in the United States. My name is Dawn Hillyer.
I live in Fort Wayne, IN. I was stalked for 6 years (in person then turned to cyber). Last February (2012) Michael McClellan was convicted of 2 felony counts of Stalking. In March (2012) he was sentenced to 10 years in prison. His sentence was upheld through the appeal process. This was a huge accomplishment for the prosecutors and detectives and judge who had case.
I often think about what will happen when he gets out (March 2017). After doing some research, I found that Michigan, Massachusetts, Oklahoma, Hawaii, and Wyoming have all implemented a GPS to track domestic abusers and stalkers. What a GREAT idea.
Research shows that stalkers don’t give up - there is a high likely hood of repeat behaviors. The reality is- tehy get out - and the threat is back.
This is so important to not only me but to the other estimated 3,000,000 people stalked a year.
The following are attachments from recent articles regarding GPS tracking of stalkers.
