I live in a very high fire risk area and the Yarra Ranges Council and Parks Victoria have neglected their obligations to cut the grass and maintain the public areas in a matter which will minimise the fire risk to this area.
Yarra Ranges Shire and Vic Roads have neglected their responsibilities in regards to maintaining a safe environment for residents and visitors to the Dandenong Ranges area.
Please email Yarra Ranges Shire urgently and ask them to attend to the issue of long grass in this area for fire prevention and pest management.

To Shire of Yarra Ranges and Vic Roads,
I am extremely concerned about the lack of grass slashing that has been carried out in the Dandenong Ranges area this year and believe that the Shire of Yarra Ranges and Vic Roads have not fulfilled their legal obligations to residents and visitors to protect this vulnerable and high risk area.
I appreciate that it has been a high growth Spring & Summer but it is the Councils responsibility to ensure our safety as ratepayers.
The long grass along side the roads, in the Mount Dandenong Arboretum, the Olinda Golf Course and many other areas, constitute a serious fire hazard and a danger to our pets as they will be harbouring many snakes.
I am aware that Parks Victoria are responsible for some of these areas and ask that you liaise with them to ensure they fulfil their moral and legal responsibilities in this regard.
I urge you to investigate this situation and to attend to the grass slashing as a matter of urgency.
Regards,
The residents and rate payers of the Dandenong Ranges
