Our 12 yr old son Toby has severe autism and complex needs. He has been living in a residential facility in the Peel Region since June of 2011. He is happy and thriving with at school in a moderate to severe needs class. He has many community supports and resources in place such as, occupational therapy, augmentative device services, behavioural therapy, his pedeatrician and autism specialists at Holland Bloorview Hospital.

On Jan. 12, 2016 we were advised the facilty would be closing on Jan. 31, 2016. A new placement for Toby was being worked on and we were assured he would be kept in the Region of Peel, close to his family, school and community supports. On Jan. 25, 2016 we were advised Toby would be moving to a new facility in Statford ON on Fri. Jan. 29, 2016. This is not acceptable nor in Toby's best interest!

The move would cause him to lose his placement in the Moderate to Severe Needs Class. And the Stratford school system cannot accommodate Toby's needs making home schooling the only option.

Other services now in place and accessed after lengthy wait lists will be lost and Toby will need to be placed on new wait lists for services in the Stratford area.

Please help us keep Toby in the Region of Peel!

We the undersigned call on the Ministry of Child and Youth Services, and Peel CAS to allow Tobias McKeon to continue residing at his residential facility on Burnford Trail, in Mississauga.

We demand proper supports including trained competent staff to facilitate Tobias' care, are put in place immediately at Burnford.

Toby is to remain at Burnford until an appropriate permanent placement becomes available in the Region of Peel allowing him to continue in the moderate to severe needs class at his school, and all the community supports that are currently in place for him.
