The city of Fairbanks Alaska has recently proposed to ban dumpster diving at public trash bins based on an individual's rights to privacy, the correlation between prolific Dumpster diving and a proliferation of backyard junk yards, and Safety concerns cited by trash-haulers.
We, the undersigned, ask for your help in Stopping the Ban against Dumpster Diving in Fairbanks, Alaska.
The proposed ban would make it ILLEGAL for individuals to remove items of refuse from public trash bins.
The ban would fine those caught "diving", it would put an end to one of the few recycling programs in existence in the area, it would burden our landfills, and a lot of individuals that count on the Subsistence of these Recycling facilities will be without.
I urge you, and the "divers" of Fairbanks urge you, to oppose the ban on Dumpster Diving that will be decided on by mid-November 2007.
