Dear League of Arab States,
We would like to take the opportunity to call your attention to the case of Jabeur Mejri who is the subject of our deepest concern.
Mr Jabeur Mejri is Tunisian citizen sentenced on 28 March 2012 to 7.5 years imprisonment for "transgressing morality, defamation and disrupting public order".
The appeal for his sentence was denied on 25 June 2012. We are very concerned for his illegal detention. Mr Jabeur Mejri is a prisoner of conscience.
Mr. Jabeur Mejri is in health deterioration due to lack of medical consideration. Mejri has an infection in the legs due to hygiene and ill-treatment by other prisoners.
We call for a strong diplomatic pressure for his release.
Thank you for your attention.
