We the undersigned are aware of the financial hardship experienced by many unpaid family carers and their dependants as a direct result of their caring responsibilities and we call upon the British Government to urgently review and overhaul Carer’s Allowance and other benefits available for carers.
In particular we call upon the Government to review the level of the Allowance – currently £53.90 per week – and the rule that it is not payable to carers in receipt of the State Retirement Pension.
