The Del Satins: Originally called The Jokers, with Joe Amato as lead singer, who was later replaced by Stan Zizka. The group was formed in 1958 in the Yorkville section of Manhattan. The quintet consisted of Stan Zizka (lead), Leslie Cauchi (first tenor), Bobby Keith Koestner (second tenor), Bobby Faila (second tenor) who replaced Keith. Fred Ferrara (baritone), and his brother Tom Ferrara (bass). Mel Kalachman (Baritone) also sang with the group. Fred Ferrara came up with the name Del Satins combining The Dells and The Five Satins group's names. The Del Satins auditioned for Dion DiMucci when he had left The Belmonts.
After hearing the group briefly, Dion wanted them to record his next song. Runaround Sue was born, and became a huge hit reaching number 1 on October 23, 1961. "Ruby Baby" with Dion followed in 1962 and went to number 2 on the charts. Other renowned group hits include "The Wanderer" (No. 2 on the charts), "Shout, Shout, Knock Yourself Out" (No.1 on the charts), "Lovers Who Wander" (No. 3 on the charts), "I'll Pray For You", "Counting Teardrops". "Teardrops Follow Me", "Little Diane", Etc.. The Del Satins were regulars on The Clay Cole Show for two years. They then recorded "Ebb Tide", and "Goin Out Of My Head" with Johnny Maestro on Diamond Records. The group then became The Brooklyn Bridge. Mike Gregorio, Charlie Aiello, and Richard Green were added group members. The Brooklyn Bridge would enjoy huge successes with top hits, "The Worst That Could Happen", "Blessed Is The Rain", "Welcome Me Love", "Your Husband My Wife".
The Del Satins are the American Dream Machine, and have endured and transformed their sound into multi-genre styles in Pop Music. They still perform to sell out crowds today, and have managed to cross all boundaries in the entertainment world! They are True Legends of all times!
