Install a traffic light at Horton Ave and 16th Ave

I live near the corner of Horton Ave and 16th Ave in Nashville, TN; and I have witnessed the aftermath of three substantial accidents at this intersection. One accident resulted in permanent paralysis. Two of the accidents involved young children. I hear the screeching of tires from my apartment weekly, if not multiple times per week.

This section of 16th Avenue is a one-way street with no traffic control. There is no light and no stop sign. Horton Avenue is a two way street with stop signs, but drivers don't realize that the cross traffic coming from one direction on 16th Avenue does not stop. One reason for this is the fact that the Horton stop signs are set fairly far back from the actual road, and another reason is the cars parked on both sides of 16th Avenue, limiting the Horton Ave drivers' ability to see moving vehicles. I have been involved in three near-accidents myself at this intersection.

This issue is bigger than an occasional or mindless driver. This issue is the result of a poorly designed intersection. The residents of this neighborhood implore the city to install a traffic light to protect the safety of drivers, bicyclists, and pedestrians on this busy Nashville street.
