- All people in the four state area who are inclined to support a free public skatepark in Joplin, Mo
- Region:
- United States of America
The City of Joplin has a very strong skate/BMX scene because of the opening and sustaining of "The Bridge Ministries." The sad fact of the matter is though that some people do not have sufficient monies to pay for a trip to The Bridge to indulge in the sports they love so much.
That being said it is my feeling and the feeling of many others that the City of Joplin, Mo should seriously consider funding a free outdoor skate park initiative. There would have to be funds allocated from the city in order to do it in an effective fashion. The upside is the availability of grants from different organizations that specialize in planning and executing such venues.
The City of Joplin has park area to spare and should at the very least consider this as an option when allocating money to the upkeep and improvement of parks.
We, the undersigned, call on the people of Joplin to consider the design, funding and development of a free, outdoor and public skateboard and BMX park.
This should be under the advisement of BMX riders and skateboarders in order to make full use of resources in our city.
Furthermore, the City of Joplin should enlist the help of one or more of several organizations to help in the planning and development stages of the venue; these organizations include but are not limited to the Tony Hawk Foundation, www.bikesbelong.org and www.suburbanrails.com.
