Kimball International made a decision to close the day care facility managed by Bright Horizon and underwritten by Kimball International.
None of us can dispute the justifications that Kimball International used to make such a difficult decision. However, this community is in need of quality all day care facilities and care providers. The decision to withhold the sale of the facility from other day care providers was irresponsible.
Based on current statistics from Bright Horizon and 4C of Southern Indiana approximately 100 children will be left without a care provider in Dubios County, Indiana. To prevent this from happening, we need to act fast to try and save the Kimball Day Care building from being converted into a Medical Center.
Why this facility? The rigorous licensing requirements that new or remodeled buildings must meet require time during which the facility could not be used. However, under new ownership and management the Kimball Day Care building would remain licensed allowing for the uninterrupted care of our children.
Our children deserve the best we, as parents and as a community, can offer.
We, the undersigned, call on the buyer of the Kimball Kids Day Care facility to back out of the purchase of the building.
We ask that another day care provider be offered an opportunity to purchase the facility so that it may remain in the service of our communities greatest asset, our children.
