My daughters have been having weekly swimming lessons there for approx 6 years now and both get very cold during their half hour lesson and come out with blue lips!
I signed up for a swim membership last February as I have medical problems and swimming is the only form of exercise I can tolerate. However, I can count on 2 hands the amount of times that I've actually used the pool. I have even bought a thermal rash vest to go over my swimming costume but I'm still too cold to swim there.
My children don't even enjoy swimming there for fun, as they get so cold so quickly - none of us have ever been able to stay in for a full hour.
I've set up this petition to get signatures and stories from people who use Lutterworth Leisure Centres pool. I have been lodging complaints since last year to the managers about the water being too cold.
One manager is currently being very helpful and has instigated an independant check to be carried out, but to date, this has not happened. Another manager told me that they have to keep the pool temperature as it is for the serious swimmers and swimming clubs! I have looked at the daily temperature readings that the staff record daily and every day they record 29 degrees centigrade. However, for 3 weeks in September 2012 I took my own pool thermometer and left it floating in the shallow end while I swam and it recorded 26 degrees on all occasions.
Even though my complaint is being looked into, I have heard that others have made complaints in the past and the temperature still hasn't changed. So if I can get as many people supporting my complaint as possible - maybe this time, they will listen and raise the temperature - here's hoping!
Lutterworth pool caters for all members of the community: young children's swimming lessons; young children's swimming fun sessions; Adult swimming; Aqua aeorobics; over 50's swimming sessions; swimm clubs; scuba clubs etc etc I don't feel you can keep the temperature on the cooler side when you cater for leisure swimmers and children. If it's to be a sports pool then it should be adverised as such and childrens sessions, leisure sessions, over 50's sessions should not be available and they should not take memberships for such.
I would appreciate your support and please tell as many people as you can who use or have used or want to use the Lutterworth pool.
Many thanks.
