Maitland Council Must Utilise 100% Recycled Photocopy Paper

Maitland Greens are campaigning for Maitland Council to increase their use of recycled materials. Councils as the collectors of recycling have an implicit responsibility to also buy recycled products such that "LOCAL REUSE OF RECYCLING CREATES LOCAL JOBS". Maitland Council has for many years been export dumping our recycling in Asia, whereas the Greens believe that processing of recycling should be undertaken in Australia through the creation of Recycling Economic Zones, creating jobs for locals. This petition is the first step in a long campaign to enhance the recycling circular economy within the Hunter Valley and Australia.
