After a recent incident where a toddler had a near miss while crossing the road in Brodick, we would like to call on all the community of Brodick and the rest of Arran to join us in our petition requesting safer roads on Arran. We would request that a pedestrian crossing be placed somewhere along the main road in Brodick.
Our concerns lie with all pedestrians and their safety along this stretch of road and many groups, namely Brodick Mother & Toddlers, Arran Childminders' Group, Brodick Nursery School and Brodick Primary School, are all held along this stretch of road.
We are aware that slow road markings have been implemented recently, after cars have collided with the Ormidale Pavillion's wall and a more tragic accident which resulted in a fatallity of a local pedestrian.
We would like to see further measures taken to ensure a safe crossing for all the community and a slowing down of traffic along this stretch of road.
We, the undersigned, call on North Ayrshire Council to make Arran's roads safer, with a pedestrian crossing or something similar.
